Get your bike in Budapest and transfer by train to lake Fertő or Neusiedl at the Hungarian-Austrian border. Bicycle paradise and hotspot for surfers and sailing. (Red)wine region. Transfer time 2.5 – 3 hrs.
An excursion to the cross-border lake Fertö/Neusiedl. UNESCO protected world heritage, national park, holiday paradise. We recommend minimum 2-3 days.
Direct trains from Budapest Deli railway station to Fertöszentmiklos/Lake Fertő and every hour train connections Budapest-Györ and Györ-Fertöszentmiklos (ca. 3 hours) with bicycle transport. The trains require pre-booking and reservation for seats and bicycles. Limited places only. We recommend to book our package, including a bicycle rent and the train transfer. Book well in advance, short time on request and availability cannot be granted. Take a try!
For your accommodation we recommend the Castle Hotel Szidonia, close to the railway station (shuttle can be arranged) and close to famous Castle Eszterhaza. Click on the picture for further information:

A full circle around the lake will be around 130km. Various shortcuts by ferryboat or train.

Attention: Bicycle transports on the direct IC train between Budapest and Fertőszentmiklos at the moment only on weekends! Connections with transfer in Györ every hour! Please ask for our advice.
